Brownhill Substation Update

Perfect planting conditions have meant over 53,000 natives are now thriving as part of the Brownhill substation landscaping plan.

The remaining 25,000 are still on track to be in the ground on completion after the remaining earthworks on the eastern bund are finished by December – providing the good weather continues.

Construction activities and earthworks around the substation have slowed down over the winter months as we wait for firmer ground conditions to continue our excavations. In the meantime, three cable end gantries (connection points for the cables) have been installed, with the remaining three to be completed by October.

In the upcoming 2012 summer months we will continue with earthworks and the finishing of the stream diversion. It is anticipated that the construction of the transition station will commence in December this year with the installation of the fence.

The construction of poles on the ridge line and on one of the site boundaries as well as the gantry structures is expected to start with foundations in February 2012, with tower erection in April through to May.

Stringing and termination into the substation is expected to start in late June and completed in August 2012.
