We have been carrying out an investigation into options for replacing the conductor on both the Bunnythorpe to Haywards A and B lines. As a result of this investigation we have now determined that replacing the conductor with a slightly larger conductor is the best option over the expected lifetime of the replacement conductor.
The current conductor has reached the end of its economic life. The replacement conductor option chosen is just 3mm thicker than the existing conductor (29mm compared to 26 mm) but is more energy efficient, and provides some limited extra capacity. It also provides flexibility for meeting future growth in the Kapiti region.
