As part of its North Auckland and Northland (NAaN) Project, Transpower is installing an underground 220 kV cable connection between Penrose and Albany (via the Harbour Bridge), to provide more security to North Auckland and Northland.
This will provide an alternate electricity supply route to North Auckland and Northland, which presently relies on just one high capacity line between Otahuhu and Henderson for most of its power needs.
This is a long term solution providing sufficient capacity for the foreseeable future.
Tendering for this project (if any) will be made through either the GETS or Transpower website. Register at both these sites to be notified of any open tender release.
