Wairakei to Whakamaru Replacement Transmission Line Project

Overview

What we're doing

Transpower is carrying out a project to build a new double circuit 220 kV transmission line between Wairakei and Whakamaru to help connect more generation being built in the area.

As part of this project, the existing Wairakei to Whakamaru B line (via Poihipi Rd) will be decommissioned and removed.

Why we're doing it

This project will provide sufficient capacity for the foreseeable future.
