While not part of this project, we also have routine maintenance work scheduled for the overhead transmission line.
In the South Island, we are undertaking routine works to address situations where recent surveys have shown minor reduced ground clearances. These works do not increase the electrical capacity of the line.
In the North Island, between Oteranga Bay in the south and Haywards in the north, we are replacing the conductor on some sections of the line due to age and condition. This may involve reinforcing some of the towers.

New converter stations are being built using state of the art thyristor technology.
